4 Month Check-up

I took Avery to the doctor this morning for her 4 month checkup. She weighs 16lbs 3oz and is 24 inches long. She got 3 shots and the liquid vaccine. She didn't do too bad. She stopped crying after each shot. We gave her tylenol before we went, so I think that helped. We got the go-ahead to start feeding her cereal, so we're pretty excited about that. I am kind of sad that she's growing up, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what she's like as she gets older.

i have a chubby baby!

We weighed Avery today and she weighed 15lbs 8oz. I figured maybe 13 or at most 14. But-wow! And her schedule is getting really screwed up(well, it was kind of a schedule). She eats every two hours now, and at night she is up either every 2 or 3 hours to eat. Her nose is still stuffy, its been 3 months. But that's her only symptom. Oh and we just got a bill from the hospital from when she was born. Gonna straighten that out. Her insurance should have covered that. Dammit.

Avery This Week

I don't know how much she weighs or how long she is-she goes in at the end of the month-but she's getting chubby, and more cute every day. Her hair is getting long-but grampa is NOT cutting it. She is grabbing at toys now, A little. She'd rather suck on her WHOLE hand, and she eats every 2 hours during the day, and will sleep about 4-5 hours from 10PM. After that, Lauren usually keeps her up. She didn't get any flu vaccine yet-but she will in February.
She's a smiling, chubby, mostly happy baby!

Avery This Week

Avery is going to be 3 months old on Halloween. I can hardly believe
it. She is around 13 lbs. And pretty long. She likes eating, being on
the floor and her swing. She doesn't really like napping and hates
baths and wet/dirty diapers. She smiles/laughs/'talks' on command, and
whenever she feels like it. She has surpassed Lauren's 6 month old
weight by a pound, and she's not even 3 months yet. (Lauren was only
12 lbs at 6 months old). Tim has said that Avery is going to be a
quiet bookworm/nerd and Lauren will be the outgoing (meaning LOUD)
'bully'. I said that poor Avery will get picked on and Lauren will go
kick butt for her. She hasn't quite figured out how to roll over yet,
but that will come. Its hard for me not to compare my kids and their
developmental stages. We're going to start teaching Avery signs in the
next few months, probably around Christmas, as that is how Lauren
communicates right now.
She's been acting a little funny this week, but not weird enough to go
to the doctor. With all the crap that's out there, everything makes me
worried.

I'm Almost 6 Weeks Old!

I can't believe how fast they grow, but most of the time I wish they were old enough to sleep all night and understand directions and eat and change themselves. But then, what would I have to do? (Besides sleep and take care of myself.) Until then, I am on the backburner and my kids are front and center. And that's ok. They need me, and I have all the time in the world.

(Avery can't really hold her head up yet, but the Bumbo does a good job of making it look that way. If only we could keep Lauren from trying to murder Avery every chance she gets, life would be good.)

Oh, my kids. Sigh.
